FINDING HEALING AFTER AN ABORTION
When I was just 16 years old, I did the unthinkable and I had an abortion. I didn’t want to do this, and I felt pressured into this decision. (You can read my story here.) Abortion not only kills babies, but it also affects the mother for the rest of her life. Depression and feelings of suicide are very normal. I know, I almost took my life.
(If you are experiencing feelings of suicide, please talk to someone qualified right now. If you are in the U.S., call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255).
But I am here to tell you that there is hope and there is redemption! No matter what we’ve done in our past, God will forgive us if we just ask Him. If you’ve gone through an abortion and you need help and healing, please join me in this prayer today.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before You today to ask for Your forgiveness. Lord, You know what I did to my baby. I know how much this hurt You and I now realize how much this has hurt me. Jesus, please forgive me for taking the life of my baby.
I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but You are a righteous and loving God. I know that You will bury my sins in the deepest part of the ocean, and never remember them again. Please help me also to forgive myself and the others who were involved in this terrible mistake.
I believe that my baby is with You right now, Lord, in heaven. And I believe that someday I will get to meet my baby. I know that we are here on earth such a very short time, and I pray that I can use my testimony to help others avoid the same mistake I made. Please make me a light in this dark world and help me to be a blessing to other women who have also gone through an abortion. Let me encourage them to receive Your healing, like I have received today.
Thank you, Jesus, for healing me and hearing my prayer. I ask this in Your Holy Name.
Here are some scriptures to claim as your own. I encourage you to read them out loud and memorize them.
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
